We leave Cape Town after breakfast and visit the world-renowned Kirstenbosch
Botanical Gardens. From here we visit Groot Constantia, the oldest wine farm in
the Cape and producer of fine wines which even Napoleon couldn’t resist.
Our journey takes us along the beautiful coastline to Simon's Town, the
Headquarters of the South African Navy. We make a quick stop at the Scratch
Patch, a factory that converts ordinary looking stones into shiny semi-precious
stone works of art, and then head on to Boulders to watch the penguins.
We have lunch (seafood is available) before we continue to the Cape of Good
Hope, travelling through Fynbos to the tip of the Cape Peninsula. Here we climb
(or use the vernacular) to the top and enjoy the vistas over the vast mass of
ocean, including the entire False Bay. Now we are at the most south-westerly tip
of Africa!
Our journey takes us from here through to Kommetjie and Noordhoek, over the
famous Chapman’s Peak Drive (when open). This drive offers spectacular views and
we continue via Hout Bay, Llandudno, Camps Bay and Sea Point along the Atlantic
coastline, back to the Mother City.
